Testimonials

"I am a serious soccer player and when someone said the word “surgery” for my leg injury, I opted for everything and anything but. Michele helped me without surgery and sure enough several weeks later, I am back out on the soccer field doing what I love to do."

-  Ayman Soliman, Brewster, NY

"I have been seeing Michele for a few years now.  After a number of intensive surgeries my pain level was intolerable. Michele has worked with me to get a pain management program that has improved my quality of life. I am now able to do an exercise program to help stabilize my back and hips and Linus makes sure I do all my exercises right!"

-  Robert Milton, Mohegan Lake, NY

"Wonderful, comprehensive care.  Michele managed to get me a diagnosis and treatment plan when no one else did.  Linus is an extra bonus!"

-  Deborah Friedland, Pound Ridge, NY

"Thanks so much for the work on my left hip. I literally could not move without serious leg pain and over a period of weeks you returned my condition to almost normal. You are truly a professional in your physical therapy practice and I'm grateful for the work you've done."

-  Norm Sylvester, Ridgefield, CT

"This place has been very helpful and they take very good care of me.  Michele and Terry helped me walk and Linus helps me keep my spirits up."

-  Ryan Bierce, Brewster NY

"I have worked with five other PTs and not one can come close to the one-on-one skill and attention provided by both Michele and Terry.  While you are being treated, you are the ONLY patient with 100% of the PT's focus. No assembly line treatment here! Your therapy plan is tailored to your specific needs.  The atmosphere is calm, relaxed and friendly.  Linus, Michele's bouncy ball playing Corgi, provides an extra dimension of warm and fuzzy. Irene, who runs the schedule and the office, will stand on her head to juggle appointments to accommodate you."

-  Susie Thompson, North Salem, NY

"Hospital for Special Surgery gave me new knees, Michele made them work.  The PT process was intense, thorough, no nonsense... and it was over in a matter of weeks, not months (that's the best part). Thanks be to Michele and Terry."

-  PL. North Salem, NY

"Michele has a unique way of addressing physical issues like spine alignment and working on your body with her hands in a way that gives very immediate results.  Much of physical therapy seems to involve being instructed to work on a machine with a therapist casting an eye in your direction.  Michelle is amazingly effective and intuitive about where an injury or pain is manifesting."

-  Della Mancuso, North Salem, NY

"Michele helped me to rehabilitate from a serious leg injury that required three surgeries.  As an enthusiastic rider, Michele helped me to get back to my full form.  She used a gentle and kind approach to a difficult rehabilitation while pushing me to achieve my goals. Linus was an excellent distraction when I had to work through painful restrictions."

-  Steve Mulligan, North Salem, NY

"I am an active yoga teacher with chronic debilitating low back pain which is the result of two rear end collisions.  After the accidents I was prescribed what I call traditional physical therapy which yielded mild relief.  I have seen a chiropractor on and off for eight years and due to a recent flare up was going once or twice a week regularly with very little relief.  At my very first session with Michele, I knew I was finally in the right place.  Since then I have had a handful of sessions more and have much less pain and more mobility now than I have in over a year."

"The main differences between the treatments I received from Michele Leasure and other physical therapy treatments are

  1.  The immediate effectiveness of her treatments
  2.  Their long-lasting effectiveness and
  3.  The simplicity of treatments.

When I began to see her walking 10 yards was difficult because of arthritis pain in my hip. Now after about 1 1/2 yrs of occasional treatment I can hike several miles as often as I want or teach standing up for 3 hrs without any ill effect."

-  Angela Fitzgerald, Washington D.C.

"Michele’s form of physical therapy is one of a kind. My very first reaction was, “This isn’t physical therapy.” And then when I came off the table and found my body movements significantly improved, my stamina increased and my vitality enhanced, I said to myself, “This is different.”

I have now been coming faithfully for six months because the difference has been dramatic.  My range of movement and my vitality have continued to improve. I am so grateful!"

-  Ed Sumber, Carmel, NY

"I have been in the auto mechanic industry my whole life. When I hurt my back my whole world was turned upside down.  I was not going with prescriptions like most doctors had wanted me to.  Michele was great and took care of my needs.  She laid out a plan for me and it became part of my routine. At first I was skeptical about physical therapy being a good treatment for my problem.  But as time went by, I realize it was really helping me. She was great to work with and Irene was a pleasure to deal with. An added bonus was Linus! When we first started and I would lie on the table, Linus was always right there to help keep me relaxed. Without Michele I would not be able to do what I do today. If I ever go back to the auto business full time, I will be able to because of Michele and all our hard work."

"As an aging baby boomer athlete, I have suffered my fair share of injuries and visits to various local physical therapists.  Most of these have been large offices in a hospital, or affiliated with a doctor’s office.  I thought standard care operating procedure for physical therapy was what I had experienced at these offices.  Generally, this was an initial evaluation, brief explanations of exercises, and VERY little one-on-one observation, assistance, or help with my exercises.  Also, I noticed that I was certainly not the only client that the therapist saw during my appointment time.

Recently, I suffered a major injury that required extensive surgical repair of my rotator cuff.  The surgery was followed by months of physical therapy at a local physical therapy franchise. The rotator cuff needed a second surgery and more physical therapy. I choose to work with Michele Leasure at Salem Sports and Spine for my second round of PT.  The level of care I received from Michele was dramatically different. Michele does not double/triple book clients. During my appointment, I am the ONLY client she attends to.

Michele is totally hands on as she works with a client.  She patiently explains and demonstrates the exercises and therapy.  She has consistently demonstrated a vast knowledge base and expertise in her field. I sense that Michele truly cares about me as a patient and offers encouragement and support to help me over anxieties and “humps” in my progress.  There are so many pluses to working with Michele, her bright, clean, well-equipped office, her professionalism, her courtesy, and most of all the superb level of care that any patient will receive while working with Michele. I feel truly fortunate to have someone of her caliber based in our small town of North Salem and I would highly recommend her to anyone needing an excellent physical therapist."

"I was told that I had an 80% tear in the supraspinatus in my shoulder and that I would need surgery. I was going to my favorite chiropractor, who worked on me for several weeks, to loosen up my shoulder so that I could move my arm. After those very painful treatments, I went to Michele at her facility in North Salem to get ultra sound and PT.

Michele treated me PAINLESSLY for several more weeks.  She used the ultrasound and did a treatment that didn't involve any pain and now I have complete range of motion and NO OPERATION! After Michele's healing treatments on my shoulder she helped me with my lower back problems.

Michele at Salem Sports and Spine is very professional and yet personal. Because of her, I didn't have to get that operation. Thank you Michele."

- Charlotte DeSalvo, Mahopac, NY

"I really benefitted from going to Salem Sports and Spine. On December 30,2009, I seriously fractured my right tibia plate, had 2 major operations, and now have 18 pins in my leg.

I was unable to put weight on my leg for 3 months and  began therapy in February, 2010. Now, after 6 months of working with Terry DePaoli, Michele, and Irene, my injury is healed, and I can resume most of my normal daily activities. Terry, Michele, and Irene have done an amazing job! They are total professionals who work with patients in a way that maximizes the benefits of the therapy sessions. In addition, they are sensitive to a patient’s needs and go about their work in a positive way with a light touch and a good sense of humor. I highly recommend Salem Sports and Spine!”

- Gordon Grand, North Salem, NY

“Following multiple spine surgeries, chronic pain became my “MO”. Other PT programs gave me little relief and prescription drugs did not allow me to take part in healing my own body. My introduction to Michele was by accident. I was taking a yoga class in her building and we were introduced. We made the first of my appointments that day! Since then the pain level is almost non-existent! Michele is a special person with a true understanding of the entire body, not just components seen independently. Please know, Michele, how much I appreciate all that you have done for me. You truly made a difference in my life.”
